Ping Pong Rules That You Need To Know About

Ping Pong

Ping pong is a fun game that can be played by anyone. In fact, you can even practice playing by yourself by just folding half of the table so that it reaches an angle of 90 degrees and creates a wall. However, you need to remember that before you play ping pong or table tennis, you need to know about the rules in order for you and your playing partner to continue enjoy playing the game and get the point system right as well as avoid any discussion.

The first rule is by deciding which of the players will get to serve the ball. Basically, there are numerous ways to decide. You can try playing one rally where you play for service. In this type of game, the player who wins the point will win the chance to serve first. However, you need to remember that the point won’t count toward the game. It will be just playing one rally in order to decide who serves first.

Another way to decide is by tossing a coin, or you can simply hide the ball in one hand and let the other player choose between your two hands. If your playing partner chooses the hand with the ball, then he or she will win the chance to serve first.

Another rule is the serving rule. You need to remember that when you are getting ready to serve the ball, your hand which is holding the ball shouldn’t hide the ball. Your palm should be open so that the ball will be seen by your opponent clearly in your hands. Hiding the ball is considered to be bad sportsmanship and it is also against the rules of the game.

When serving, the ball should be tossed in the air and when you hit the ball with the paddle, it should land on your side of the table first, over the net and to the opponent’s side of the table. The receiving end should hit the ball that it should go over the net and land on your side of the table then so on. It is illegal for you to hit the ball with your paddle if the ball hasn’t touched your side of the table first.

Another rule is that you shouldn’t let the ball hit any part of your body. If you let the ball hit any part of your body aside from your paddle, then the point will go to your opponent.

The scoring system for ping pong is quite simple. Every five points, the serve will alternate between players. The player who reaches 21 points first is the winner of the set. However, if you and your opponent are tied on 20, the set will continue until one of you reaches a 2 point advantage.

Nowadays, the rules of the game have changed. There is now 11 points per set and the serve will alternate between the two players after two points. A game can be the best of 3 or 5, which will depend on how much time you have and how long both of you wants to play.

Ping pong can also be played as a doubles game. Unlike tennis, ping pong will require each doubles partner to take turns to hitting the ball. This means that after returning the ball to the opponent, your doubles partner should be the one who will hit the next time the ball returns to your team’s side of the table.

These are some of the basic rules that you need to follow when playing ping pong. With these rules, you can be sure that you and your playing partner will have lots of fun playing ping pong.
