Kids and teenagers love it it. Rollerblades overshadowed roller skates. Four wheels that are paired off by twos became four wheels vertically aligned. However, same rules apply. Anyone who rollerblades must always wear a helmet and protection pads.

Some people find it exciting to feel their heart beat and their adrenaline rush as they step on the gas pedal with a speed of 150 miles per hour. This goes for those who love racing. But there are people who prefer to enjoy the silence of the underwater and being one with nature and its swimming inhabitants through scuba diving.

Cave exploration is such a wonderful sport. It promotes appreciation of nature. You will have the pleasure of learning things regarding — how do speleothems (stalagmites and stalactites) form, you’ll be able to see and evaluate wall paintings done by our ancestors or the prehistoric cave dwellers. In addition, you’ll also see the wonder of how lifeforms inside interact and live together.

Rock climbing has become a favorite hobby for many athletes. Due to the emergence of indoor climbing gyms, the sport has become an affordable and safe activity. It is a fact that rock climbing is a very dangerous sport. The higher one goes, the more risky it becomes. The safety of a climber depends on his good physical conditions and skills. Rock climbing’s important equipments are ropes, shoes, chalk bag, safety helmet and a harness. Dexterity, strength of the upper body and determination are just the other requirements required in this sport.

Mountain climbing is considered by some to be an extreme sport because of the risks and hazards associated with it. Imagine climbing up the world’s tallest peak, where the summit offers very little oxygen to go along with the biting-cold weather. Mountain climbing can be considered a dangerous sport or hobby, yet there are still many people around the world who want to take the challenge and adventure of mountain climbing.

You have enjoyed riding your bicycle as a child, and didn’t mind riding in the dirt, even though it took forever to get the chain cleaned up afterwards. Well, by now you have probably grown up and you still wonder what it would be like to ride your bike in the dirt instead of the sidewalk. Well, there is a sport for you and it is called mountain biking. In its purest form, mountain biking simply refers to riding your bicycle on any surface instead of paved roads. Thus it is not uncommon to see mountain bikers on beaches, mountain trials, and any other bit of dirt road that may be in your neighborhood.

Extreme sports have gained huge mainstream popularity over the last few years. No longer reserved for the fringe of the sporting world, participants, as well as the audience, have zeroed in on the heightened speeds, more daring heights, and greater risks for bodily harm that are in store for anyone exercising these sports. Unlike the firmly established sports, such as soccer or baseball, the rules and goals of these activities are fluid and change whenever there are new breakthroughs in the manufacturing or design of the sporting equipment. The goals are usually adjusted to push the sport and its participants to greater risks that are just within the very edge of the safety zone. It is not surprising that so many young people enthusiastically embrace these kinds of activities much to the chagrin of their parents. Accidents very often lead to debilitating risks of limbs, and at times may even result in death.

Boulder climbing, most commonly referred to as bouldering, is an extreme sport that has been around for a long time. Very often thought of as mountain climbing without the mountain and ropes, bouldering aficionados in Great Britain pioneered this sport some time in the late 1880s. In those days, the climbing of a boulder was considered a warm up and training activity for the more ambitious mountain climbs that the participants would engage in later on. Self proclaimed American boulder climber pioneer John Gill has made many advances in this sport that have allowed it to enter the mainstream. As opposed to traditional rock climbing, the focus in boulder climbing is on the performance of the athlete on the rock they are climbing instead of on the headway they can make on any given mountain hike, the type of equipment they may have that ensures success of some mountain climbing expeditions and failure of others, or the personal safety gear they posses.
